Match Music to Your Yoga Practice: Playlist 1
Calling all music enthusiasts, yoga teachers and people who just want to practice to music! I am releasing my first hour long playlist "Moon Fever" to match to your 50min-hour long practice.
One of my favorite things about teaching my studio classes is the music. My vision is to bring you curated playlists that you can use in your classes whether you are a teacher looking for music to play while you teach, or you are simply a student who likes to practice to music. Each playlist I share will sync up to a specific style and length of class, and I will also suggest a class from my library on youtube to watch along with it. This will be available to my paid subscribers, but I would like to share this first playlist to everyone who is part of my community to introduce this concept!
If you have ever tried to put together a playlist for a yoga class you know it’s a time consuming task. There is a lot of combing through songs, making sure they fit the vibe you are going for, they don’t get too loud or have a weird pause in the middle. It’s a great way to discover new music, and set the tone of the practice for my students. I always take my time and listen to my playlist before I test it on a class.
I put my playlists together by first figuring out the length and what type of class I aim to use the playlist in. Everything is clearly labeled so I don’t get surprised in the middle of a class with a song that doesn’t fit. The music matches the vibe of the class. Yin or Restorative classes get mellow songs. Never anything that could shock you out of a relaxed pose. My Mediation music always has no words just quiet sounds. My Flow classes are more upbeat and follow a bell curve in the playlist just like the practice. I like to ease you in with quieter songs, amp up the energy in the middle with upbeat songs then take it back down in the last few songs to ease into savasana. Every playlist is slightly longer then the class length so you never run out of music at the end of the class.
This first playlist is called “Moon Fever”. Named after the first song in the selection also I noticed there are a lot of “moon songs” in the playlist. It fits a 50 Minute Vinyasa Flow or Hatha yoga class. And I am pairing it with my 50 minute YouTube class “Mandala Namaskara” released on January 5, 2023. You will also find other classes in my library that you can pair this one with as well.
The playlist itself is actually one hour long, so you could play it in a live one hour class. I like to make the playlist a bit longer for you if you take my online classes, I want you to have time to stay in an extended savasana after the video has ended if you choose. Lets get to the playlist!
